Announcing the Winner | The Hackard Law 2018 Scholarship

Emily Bryson Scholarship Winner.jpgFor this year's Hackard Law Academic Scholarship contest, we asked you to talk on video about the elder who's been most influential in your life.

Your responses came from every corner of the country, and the contestants were from every possible background. What struck me most about the videos was the genuine care and love you have for your elders. Some of them are no longer with you, but they remain in your hearts. You've taken their life lessons and their wisdom and you've made something of your own life. You've been there for your family, and you've shared your friendship and talents with others.

Your stories are inspiring and give hope in times of uncertainty, and I wish I could award each of you a scholarship. That said, the contest allows for only one. We'd like to congratulate Emily Bryson of Florida for her outstanding video presentation on her grandmother, her abuela. She will receive $2,500 toward her education in art school. As for the other contestants, for this one occasion you will receive a small prize next week via email in recognition of your efforts. I wish all of you success, and may you continue to bring happiness into others' lives.
