Types of Cases We Handle
At Hackard Law, we handle many different types of personal injury cases. Some of these include:
Far too many motorists are careless on the roadway, and this can lead to serious and sometimes catastrophic car accidents. In some cases, poor maintenance or a manufacturing defect can also cause drivers to spin out and lose control of their vehicles.
Because motorcycles are so much smaller and lighter than trucks or cars, a collision involving a motorcycle can often spell disaster for the cyclist. Motorcycles typically weigh about 400 pounds compared to cars (which weigh about 2,000 pounds) and semi-trucks (anywhere from 35,000 to 80,000 pounds). Motorcycle accidents are often catastrophic or deadly.
Whether pulling a fully loaded or empty trailer, big rigs vastly outweigh any other vehicle on the road. Collisions with a semi-truck typically result in serious injuries and fatalities among those riding in a passenger vehicle. There is also the danger of fire or hazardous chemical spills with large truck accidents.
Vehicle collisions, workplace accidents and serious falls can all result in brain injuries for the victim. Whether this means a loss of motor skills, impaired cognition, brain damage or other severe mental impairments, these types of injuries can have lifelong consequences. Victims often require years of medical treatment, personal in-home care and rehabilitation.
Spinal Cord Injury
There’s nothing more tragic than when an accident results in a spinal cord injury, leaving the victim paralyzed or with reduced mobility. The spine is a critical epicenter of the body, and these injuries often severely reduce a victim’s quality of life. It can also devastate the entire family if the injured person was the breadwinner and can no longer work and earn a living.
Catastrophic accidents can result in the death of a loved one. Not only is the family grieving, but there are mounting medical bills, burial costs, loss of companionship and a very uncertain future. Survivors can seek damages in wrongful death cases.
