2026 Fair Inheritance Scholarship

We are excited to announce that our firm, Hackard Law, will be offering a new scholarship opportunity, The Fair Inheritance Scholarship! This scholarship centers around what is considered fair inheritance and is open to students nationwide. We invite students to reflect on the complexities of inheritance law, explore how assets should be divided, and how courts should handle complicated wills.

Here at Hackard Law, we hope to uplift and empower the next generation of students by encouraging them to pursue their educational goals. We are thrilled to support a student’s academic journey through this scholarship initiative, helping to alleviate financial constraints and enable their continued success.

We are looking forward to receiving applications from driven students who share Hackard Law’s compassion for fairness in inheritance. We will be accepting applications until May 31, 2026.

  • The candidate must fill out the form below with all necessary information
  • The candidate must submit a 750-1,000 word essay response to the prompt: Disputes over inheritance often stem from a deeper question: What is fair? In the context of estate litigation, fairness may conflict with legal formalities, unequal relationships, or outdated documents. In your essay, examine the idea of fairness in inheritance – should assets be divided equally among children, or equitably based on need or contribution? How should courts handle wills that may reflect favoritism, coercion, or incapacity? Share your perspective on how the law can better address the human complexities of estate disputes.

  • The candidate must submit a professional resumé that lists their experience, both professional and academic.
  • The candidate must submit a transcript from their current school. First-year college students, graduate students, or individuals who have recently transferred schools may submit an unofficial transcript from their current school, as well as the most recent official transcript from their prior school. High school students can submit proof of acceptance to their college or university.
  • Preference will be given to students either from or attending secondary school in the state.
