Inheritance Heists: Words of Hope for Disinherited Beneficiaries

I’m Mike Hackard with Hackard Law.  I’m sharing passages from my new book Inheritance Heists – and I hope that they can help you avoid estate disaster.

Today I’m going to cover what inspired me to write Inheritance Heists – a mission to protect heirs and beneficiaries.

For a family whose inheritance is stolen, the devastation – both material and emotional – is immense. The childhood home gone, assets vaporized, an entire legacy and hope for the future destroyed.

There are “red flags” – distinct warning signals of estate or trust wrongdoing – that you can detect and follow up with preventive measures. You can stop the financial exploitation of an elderly loved one if you spot it early enough, and you can safeguard an estate as its rightful heir.

Other readers may already be victims of an inheritance heist – a wrongdoer, whether it’s another family member or an interloper, has managed to hijack their family’s estate or trust. The sting of loss of a loved one is compounded by the injustice of a stolen legacy. You, too, can take legal action to reclaim your inheritance, but you’ll need to prepare for a tough fight ahead.

I tell my clients who have been wrongfully disinherited or excluded from a trust a simple truth: “We’re starting at zero.” You may be facing an uphill battle, but with an experienced estate litigator on your side, you can even the odds and reach a better outcome.

Financial recovery through our court system may be relatively simple compared to what every client must still face: shattered trust, emotional trauma, and families divided. None of this is easy.

Yet my motivation in writing Inheritance Heists is to share a message of hope through practical guidance. Lies and fraud succeed only under cover of night, and it’s my mission to shine a powerful spotlight on estate thieves.

Ephesians 5:11 counsels us: “Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them.” Be courageous and take heart.
